Did you know that permanent makeup can be used for lash lines and full lips?
Permanent makeup is a tattooing technique of placing pigment into the skin. Popular areas to treat are upper and lower eyelids for permanent eyeliner and for enhanced lip coloration. For permanent eyeliner, pigment is placed in the lash line and customized to the patients desired thickness. It can take several treatments for desired results. Once placed, pigment can last anywhere from 1-3 years depending on skin type.

We’ve all heard of using wrinkle-relaxers for the upper face but this treatment can also have a profound impact on the lower face!
Injectables like Botox can be used to relax some of the muscles in the lower face to give a more youthful look and prevent deeper lines from forming. One of my favorite muscles to treat is the depressor anguli oris. This muscle pulls the corner of the mouth down and can contribute to marionette lines and a resting “frown.” Relaxation of the DAO help turn up the corner of the mouth and prevent marionette line formation. This treatment goes very well with Botox in the mentalis (or chin muscle) which helps to soften the mental crease (the crease between the chin and bottom lip) and the pebbling affect the chin can have. In addition to these muscles, treating the platysmal bands (the strong vertical muscles in your neck) can have a profound impact. These muscles are powerful and cause everything to be pulled downward. By relaxing these muscles, it helps the jawline to look more defined and can improve the “turkey neck” appearance the neck can develop as these muscle strengthen with age. As with all treatments, it’s better to start before the lines become deep and require multiple modalities and higher dosages.
